To celebrate Earth Day, we collaborated with composer Diego Stocco to create an all-natural musical experience. All the sounds you hear in this piece were created real-time using instruments provided by Mother Nature herself. The same ingredients that are instrumental in making the Burt's Bees products you love to love. So take two minutes out of your day to pause, reflect, and probably even shimmy. Because Earth Day just got a whole lot groovy-er.

At any given time, more than 300,000,000 pupils worldwide are facing impending danger since their schools are not built to withstand an earthquake. Of special concern are areas along geological rift lines and children in developing countries, where construction quality can be poor. While it is common to instruct pupils to crawl under tables in case of an earthquake, existing non earthquake designated classroom tables often turn into lethal traps for those taking refuge. The "Earthquake-Proof Table" is designed for a range of building types and collapse scenarios. It provides a comprehensive solution by creating both covering protection and passageways for rescue team accessibility. To date, the patent pending design has successfully withstood a series of rigorous vertical impact tests and is currently awaiting official approval of the world leading Structural Engineering department of Padua University, Italy. In addition to various weight and ceiling collapse patterns, the Earthquake-Proof Table addresses the financial limitations of the schools that need it through economical, yet responsible production methods and inexpensive materials. Designed according to sound ergonomic principles, the Earthquake table is light enough for two children to lift and move, as well as adapted to classroom cleaning and other routine, non-emergency needs. The table was initiated as a final project at the Industrial Design department at the "Bezalel Academy of Art and Design" in Jerusalem, Israel. The table was designed by (then) student Arthur Brutter under guidance of Senior Lecturer Ido Bruno. After completion of Arthur's studies, and upon his request, the project became a joint venture of Arthur, Ido, and Bezalel labs R&D. The table is currently licensed for manufacture and distribution in Israel by "A.D. Meraz industries Ltd." a school furniture manufacturer. 34 tracks from some of the most famous video games in one fluid rock medley! I'm honestly very happy with how this one turned out, and I hope that you will like it too! It doesn't have vocals and very little acoustic guitar though, so I know that some will be disappointed, but, can't please everyone!

Mini Batman - The Arlington Police Department assisted in making a wish come true for 7-year-old, Kye
On Saturday, April 14, 2012, APD and AFD came together with "A Wish with Wings" and made a dream come true for a 7-year-old boy, Kye, who has leukemia. We granted a Batman adventure wish for Kye. The adventure began at 10 a.m. and ended with a special ceremony at City Hall where Assistant Police Chief James Hawthorne presented Kye a 'key to the City.' Kye's special day included a bank, fake money, motor officers, a bogus "bomb" and couple of cackling villains whose criminal acts were foiled by the good guys.
Asked to clear off the table, my without-a-nap, three-year-old daughter complains that her bowl is "too heavy" to carry to the sink. And the Oscar goes to.... ©2012 cr8zyfamily

This video shows versions of DARPA and Boston Dynamics robots climbing stairs, walking on a treadmill and doing pushups.
A modified platform resembling these robots is expected to be used as government-funded equipment (GFE) for performers in Tracks B and C of the DARPA Robotics Challenge (http://www.darpa.mil/NewsEvents/Releases/2012/04/10.aspx). The GFE Platform is expected to have two arms, two legs, a torso and a head, and will be physically capable of performing all of the tasks required for the disaster response scenarios scheduled in the Challenge. However, despite the appearance of the robots in the video, the Challenge is decidedly not exclusive to humanoid robot solutions. Any designs are welcome provided they are compatible with shared human-robot environments, compatible with human tools, and compatible with human operators so that a human without expertise in robotics can give commands and confidently anticipate the response.
It is DARPA's position that achieving true innovation in robotics, and thus success in the Robotics Challenge, will require contributions from communities beyond traditional robotics developers. Hardware, software, modeling and gaming developers are sought to link with emergency response and various science communities to devise novel solutions that enable robots to respond to disasters according to the tasks laid out in DARPA's announcement (http://go.usa.gov/mVj) for the Challenge.

Texas Storm Chasers' David Reimer and Jenny Brown filmed multiple tornadoes from a cyclic supercell in extreme northern Oklahoma during the April 14, 2012 Tornado Outbreak that affected Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. This was one of the first tornadoes produced by the supercell that would go on to produce tornadoes in Southern Kansas and WIchita, Kansas. Be sure to check out the zoomed in shot as the tornado moved over the road with debris clearly visible! This is only a short portion of nearly an hour of tornado footage shot from multiple high definition cameras. All this footage will be included in the Texas Storm Chasers 2012 Storm Footage DVD.

My friend Scott Jarvie who was one of the main photographers for the event, you can see some of the behind the scenes of it all in his blog post down below!
For all the shots where the camera was on a pole, we used Contour cameras to get those shots. Check them out.
For the actual pole itself that we hooked the camera to, we used a Go-Scope pole. I bought mine on this website. They make them for GoPro cameras, not Contour cameras, so we had to rig the camera to the pole to make it work.
Find out more about this awesome event in the link below!
As far as making the camera look like it was "flying", I used a glidecam 2000 HD for all those shots. You can check out the exact model on their official website below where you can also buy them, and I don't get paid to say that :)

I Would Run To You Lyrics:
You're so far away.
You're so far away.
Ain't got too much pride.
Want you back by my side.
Well baby I want that too.
And baby I would run, run to you.
I would run to you.
I would run to you.
The first time you talked to me.
I knew we were meant to be.
And when we finally embraced.
Baby, I can't keep this pace.
I love you. There I said it.
I think I'm gonna need a medic.
You filled the hall with flower petals.
Why does my mouth taste like metal?
Baby I might die without you.
Baby, I might die.
I would run to you.
I'm not as strong as you.
I would run to you.
I (unintelligible heavy breathing) to you.
Love is a speeding comet.
I'm in a pool of my own vomit.
Love is a perfect vision.
This was such a bad decision.
Love makes everything serene.
Give me all of your morphine.
Baby, I know we said we'd run across the country to be together, but I thought we were being symbolic. Why can't we fly, and meet somewhere in the middle? Like Kansas City? It's the Paris of the Plains...
Baby I love you so much that I would run to you.
You would run to me? You would run to me!
Baby I love you so much that I would run to you.
I (you) would run to you (me).
"Using Instagram for free isn't cool. You know what's cool? Paying a billion dollars for it." -Mark Zuckerberg
Article from http://venturebeat.com by Jennifer Van Grove:
The billion-dollar deal that shook the web took just 48 hours from start to finish, according to inside sources.
Monday, Facebook announced that it was acquiring photo-sharing phenom Instagram for $1 billion in cash and stock. The deal, reports the New York Times, was championed by none other than power-player CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and pieced together in record time.
"Less than 24 hours after the ink dried on Instagram's latest financing round — an investment that valued it at roughly $500 million — Mr. Zuckerberg placed a call to Kevin Systrom, Instagram's chief executive," the Times reports.
The story goes that Zuckerberg, Systrom, and their respective companies spent this past weekend ironing out the details before going live with the news Monday morning.
Facebook for its part won't confirm the insiders' accounts, but the details match up with an earlier report from Fortune. Sources told the publication that the Facebook-Instagram deal was started only after the beloved photo-sharing startup secured a (still rumored) $50 million round from Seqouia, Thrive, Greylock, and Benchmark.
"I think Facebook panicked," a person told Fortune. "So it decided to take out the competition before it had a chance to grow even bigger."
VentureBeat's friends in the financial community agree. "Facebook's short-term threat, which could eat into their IPO valuation, was Instagram," Moor Insights and Strategy president and principal analyst Patrick Moorhead told us when the news broke. "They removed that problem."
For more background on why Facebook was so desperate to snatch up Instagram at such a high price, just have a look at its S-1.
FACEBOOK - MARK ZUCKERBERG announcement:
I'm excited to share the news that we've agreed to acquire Instagram and that their talented team will be joining Facebook.
For years, we've focused on building the best experience for sharing photos with your friends and family. Now, we'll be able to work even more closely with the Instagram team to also offer the best experiences for sharing beautiful mobile photos with people based on your interests.
We believe these are different experiences that complement each other. But in order to do this well, we need to be mindful about keeping and building on Instagram's strengths and features rather than just trying to integrate everything into Facebook.
That's why we're committed to building and growing Instagram independently. Millions of people around the world love the Instagram app and the brand associated with it, and our goal is to help spread this app and brand to even more people.
We think the fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.
These and many other features are important parts of the Instagram experience and we understand that. We will try to learn from Instagram's experience to build similar features into our other products. At the same time, we will try to help Instagram continue to grow by using Facebook's strong engineering team and infrastructure.
This is an important milestone for Facebook because it's the first time we've ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don't plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together.
We're looking forward to working with the Instagram team and to all of the great new experiences we're going to be able to build together.
